Lagos Food Bank Initiative

No matter how hard the country has become for the average person. There is a much different world for those below average. That world is one where there is no single thing to write home about. Roads don’t exist. House aren’t safe. People are hungry. People are homeless. Sanitary conditions are pitiful. We must be better Nigerians before a better Nigeria can become a reality.

On September 30, we volunteered with the Lagos Food Bank Initiative to feed thousands of people around the Iyana Oworo axis of Lagos State, Nigeria. Lagos Food Bank Initiative extended the social importance of Nigeria’s independence to giving momentary freedom to stomachs that are regularly bound by hunger!

No matter how hard the country has become for the average person. There is a much different world for those below average.

Individuals and families came out in large groups to receive the food and relief materials that were being handed out. The non-governmental, non-profit, private-driven initiative lived up to their vision statement of committing to create a Lagos without hunger and closing the obvious food gap in existence.

We must be better Nigerians before a better Nigeria can become a reality.

The mission of LFBI include providing monthly food stuffs to indigent people in Lagos, reducing hunger motivated crime in Lagos, feeding the destitute in need of food through a network of food banks by having at least one food bank in every Local Government Area in Lagos, and to enlighten religious organization, corporate entities and communities on how to start a food bank and embarking on crusade/advocacy to close the food gap in Lagos.
